How did I love the nature?

On Summer 2009 I was studying English in Madison Wisconsin. Where people ride bicycles, eat organic food and appreciate the nature.

It was for me something new and weird this kind of life style. In the beginning I didn't really pay attention to what Wisconsin people doing in their life.

Martha Lincoln and her boyfriend Hsuan were my roommates and then my great friends. Martha and Hsuan do not eat meats they eat organic vegetables and drink soymilk. They were first people I saw following very healthy life style. I actually liked that for some reason.

I started to get involve in Madison community carrying many different impressions which most of them were positive.

I decided to find a conversation partner to improve my English skills. I posted ad online about that but I did not get response at all so I forgot it.

One day I got a call from somebody I do not know. She said her name is Stephanie and she liked my ad! She added that she is willing to celebrate with me 4th of July day with me!

It was along time when posted my ad. It was a bit scary for me, I started to ask questions who are you? How did you get my number? Simply she said: I saw your ad I thought that you are somebody from outside of the country and I like to meet new people and learn new cultures.

After great effort from her, I understood how that more simple than I thought. She wanted to spend 4th of July with foreign guy, that is it.

She wanted spend only that day because she is living hour and half from Madison.

She came over to Madison we had a wonderful time together from early morning. We talked in everything and we laughed a lot.

Honestly I did not understand 70 percent of what was she saying! Her language was so hard for me to understand.

While we are walking in Sate Street we sat down in chairs under huge and old tree a tiny insect came over my hand, I took it quickly and roughly with two fingers and threw it away.

In fact I never was the person who likes pets or any kind animals. I never touched a cat!

Stephanie looked at me and said: did you get hurt? I said: no.
She replied with slight tone of anger: why did throw it? why did hurt it?
I said: it is insect!

I did not know yet what was she saying, we continued to talk about something else. Suddenly, another tiny insect came again but over her this time. Stephanie carry it with her soft hands very gently and put it back on the grass and said: there you go!

Now, I'm shocked I started to think and compare about same situation and totally different actions reflect. I realized how bad I was. How I do not have nature appreciation! I saw that part inside of me full of selfishness. Because I got mad of that small lovely thing.

Stephanie gave me a unforgettable lesson in nature appreciation and loving all kind of species breathing on this earth.
